He pulled out the flash book card and slipped it into his pocket. He exhaled noisily as if the experience had been his and had left him breathless. Slowly and with his mind still on that distant planet he walked out of the university library.
Aaron, of late had not been doing well in classes. His mind had begun to wander and create a life in his imagination. He was twenty-six and still nowhere near completing his major in chemistry. He was running out of money and opportunities. Six foot two, 188 centimeters, brown eyed, and handsome and yet almost friendless. Women avoided him after the first contact and most men found him annoying company.
He walked across the quadrangle through the arch and into the Galvani dormitory. The only person in the world who accepted him as a friend lived on the second floor. Terence Dusanko was younger and smarter than Aaron. He was close to completing his major in computer engineering. At twenty-four and considerably overweight, everyone called him Porky. Without knocking Aaron opened the dormitory door and marched in. Terence sat at his reader studying.
“Here,” Aaron snapped. “Read this. I'll be back tomorrow for the answer.” He slapped a reader card on the desk.
“Answer. What's the question, Zed?” Zed being the name that Aaron preferred to be known by. It was a sort of play on words, from AA in Aaron to Zed. At least he thought it was clever.
“Just bloody read it.”
“I'm too busy, Zed. I have a whole pile of work to do.”
“I said, bloody read it. Just do as I say for once. There's good reason. Now will you read it?”
“I'll try to make time this evening. What's all the fuss?”
“Just bloody read it, man.” With that he marched out of the room and did not close the door. This was just another typical display of his disregard for other people and their feelings. What ever Zed wanted, Zed would get. Terence picked up the card and read the title.
